Yes, that is normal. You need to find something that he enjoys to play with in the water. They make bath fizzies that turn the bath water colors, or bath crayons (made out of soap) for artwork on the walls. There are all sorts of things that you can use to try to help make bath time more fun. Just don't give up, and keep trying new things. Eventually he will find something that he loves to have in the tub, then keep it just for bath time. He will start begging to take a bath soon. Good luck.

Yes, it is normal for some children. My 2 1/2 year old loves to take baths now, but that wasn't always the case. I found some bath paints that are liquid like finger paints. He gets to get into the empty tub and paint the walls before I run the water. When it is time to wash him, I give him a sponge and ask him to clean the walls. He is usually so distracted with his "cleaning" that he never notices me washing him.

Do be careful with the paints in the empty tub, if too much paint gets on the bottom of the tub it can get really slippery. I usually put a towel in the tub for him to stand on while he paints.

some children do have an aversion to baths,, or he may some time of gotten scared,,,, i would say to try to make sure the water is warm,,, only put a few inches in the bath,,wash his face and hair carefully, using a washcloth, so no chance of water/shampoo/soap getting in his eyes,, add a new toy that is only played with at bath time,, a little boat,,,,, or something like that,,,,,,, you might also try letting him stand up,,,,, while he gets a mini shower, using a cup and letting the water run out of the faucet slowly,,,,,,
he is old enough that you can talk with him, explain that he must take a bath,,,, as him what frightens him? etc,, even if he cant respond totally, he can nod etc to let you know what part is bothering him,,,,,,, it also, strangely, could not be related to bathing at all,,,,,, if its after the end of a busy day, it may just be his way of letting off steam,,,,,, and he has chosen the bath as his outlet,,,,,,,
one thing to maybe try is to get in the bath with him,,,,,, then cut back to getting in with him every other bath time,,,,,, till its finally once a week,,,,,,,

Try making bath time fun. Make it more of a game rather than a chore. They make all sorts of things like crayon soaps so they can write on themselves. They have all sorts of toys. Also, regular baths and he's old enough where you can start explaining to him why he needs a bath. They're little, but the do have some semblance of understanding reasons why, other than "because I said so"

Make it a game. Act like its a jungle gym full of balls and fill the tub full of bubbles and toys and or balls as far as the eye can see. Then he'll play with the balls but the bubbles will make sure he's clean. Don't worry about the splashing you can clean that up later just as long as he's not screaming and he is bathing your doing good.

yeah, my boys did that for a while. you have to make it fun. Does he like Curious George? They have bath tablets that change the color of the water like in the movie. You can also buy colored soap crayons, scribblers, to make bathtime fun. Find squirt toys and the 2 of you just make a mess once in a while with the tub water! Toys are great too, but watch for mold after a while. Good Luck and Have Fun!

It sounds like he's had a bad experience with water. You may want to try and introduce the tub to him with out water. Let him sit in it, and then turn the water on. With toys to play with and just a couple of inches of water for the first time may not be as tramatic for him. It will take time, but you can help him over come his fear. Patience will be the biggest thing you will need.
Good luck and remember to take time to introduce him to the water. You can still clean the child in water as low as one or two inches.

Yes, it's normal. My brothers were the same way. My mom got them these sponge things that were like blocks that stick to the tub and they LOVED them. They got in the bath with no fighting.

Maybe he is cold. Try running the shower for a while and steam up the bathroom before his bath. Also, you could try taking him in the shower with you instead of a bath.
