Fiction= lies. Sometimes the truth is just so unbelievable the lie sounds better.

I think it is relatively apparent, but it seems that no matter how creative, ludacris, extreme, or odd that we try to be when writing fiction, that there will undoubtedly be someone who defies all sense of logic and common sense. And, those actions are simply obsurd.
Think about it. For instance, the US entered into a war inorder to rid the country of weapons that it knew it didn't have. Isn't that obsurd.

I think he meant that truth is stranger than fiction, because we see more fiction in life than actually the truth.

Haven't you ever started a story with ... "you're not going to believe this, but I swear it's true"? That's because some true statements sound false because of an unusual combination of circumstances or an unfortunate chain of events. A lie can be changed and reworked until it sounds completely plausible. Happens every day!

Sometimes the truth is so hard to believe and sometimes the truth hurts worst then lies. IMO people don't really want to know the truth because lies/fictions are easier to believe.

No matter how crazy we try to imagine something, it's still got to sound plausible... reality and truth doesn't have to try to sound plausible... it just happens...
