I want to know if there is really a difference between saute pans and regular non-stick pans. I noticed in some of my receipe books that it says use a saute pan however people are telling me that there is no difference between the saute pan and the non-stick pans I already have. What do you think?

There is a Saute pan, and then there is a Fry pan. Either one can be non stick or not. I have non stick fry pans, and a stainless saute pan. I don't think that things brown as well in the non stick pans, and I love my stainless for sauteing. You can basically use either the saute pan or the fry pan for the same thing.

A saute (or fry pan) pan is simply a pan that will allow u to saute in it, regardless on wether it's non stick or not. The only time that it will make a difference is what u r cooking! Some things saute better on a non-stick, some better on stainless. So, don't fret, u can saute in the same pan u make ur grilled cheese on (unless u use a pan with the grill lines)......ZETA

Yes a fry pan is a little thicker to hold the heat better where a saute pan thinner to disperse heat quicker at lower temperatures.

i say saute pans r the better choice. after time ur nonstick pan becomes beat up. where as the saute pan lasts for-ever.

I do not think there is a difference. I think saute means things are fried but rather slower than frying.
