I'm looking to re-do my bedroom. I just revamped an old chest of drawers by painting it black and adding new nickel hardware. I really love black furniture, but I really want to paint my room a chocolate brown. Would this look ridiculous? Help!

*Note... I'm considering breaking the room up with a bold white molding (I think it's referred to as "chair rail molding" since its set at about the height of a chair).

The only way I could see this working is if you got some brown and black leopard print bedspread and curtains.

SCRATCH the WHITE MOLDING....ok Black and brown will look very chic together. Play on the metal tones that you already added. Brushed nickel, some gold, copper, maybe some mirrors. You could go very sophisticated metro. Either black leather or black satin pillows for the bed with maybe a gold bolster pillow. Black curtains with gold fringe with some chocolate colored beading....

If you like it go with it. Artwork for the room I would play on those metal tones. Maybe find some tin art that has been painted to look like brass and copper. OR I would paint your own picasso like painting with colors already suggested. Mustard yellow, clay and rust are also welcomed color accents for your room. Good luck.

i think for the main wall color you should use a very light brown, like camel color or tan. my kitchen cabinets are dark chocolate brown and the countertop is black granite--looks great, but the walls are tan, so it lightens it up a bit.ps: i dont think you should use white on the chair rail--thats way to sharp of a contrast! not good for a bedroom at all. paint the walls light brown and the chair rail chocolate brown

I think the black would look great with a lighter brown, not a darker chocolate. Would look very hip.

"not" if you break the colors with a white border/pattern.
