Because now science could actually verfiy or disprove them.

They did not happen every 5 minutes, but they were times when more happened than others.
Many miracles are still happening today. Read the Guide Posts publication for testimonies of what God is doing for people today (or one of the books they put out). Do a web search using key words like "miracle healing".
In the 1950-70's their were a number of people who had very powerful healing ministries like Oral Roberts, AA Alain, Katherine Kulman, McNutt and more.
Try going to a Pentecostal or Apostolic church in your area, many people in these churches have gifts of the Spirit.

Miracles still happen today. And even in the Bible they didn't happen every 5 minutes. It just seems like that because we have hundreds of years of history in one book.

Miracles still happen. God hasn't changed. Miracles happen everyday if you look for them. The problem is, people have stopped looking. I see people getting healed from otherwise deadly diseases like cancer, people protected in times of difficult or dangerous circumstances. Look around. Miracles are still here.

the need for understanding and explanation for what happened. nowadays, we can answer most things with science, in old days, that knowledge was limited, so the unknown was a 'miracle' (when it was good) otherwise, I believe it was deemed the work of the devil.

Hello.. :)
They still do happen.. :)
I used to be a Nurse's Aid and in 1979 I went to work, they assigned to me a new patient Hilda Bishop..I read her history..she used to be a prostitute many years before, so her family had abandoned her..she also could not talk (she had suffered a stroke)..while I was caring for her I asked her if she wanted to ask Jesus into her heart..she squeezed man hand 1 time for NO..
I went to the Lord in prayer during my lunch break..asking for the Lord to touch her heart..I went back after lunch to check on Hilda, she was choking (death rattle)..they would not allow me to suction her, for her chart said No Heroics.. :(
Hilda died within 20 minutes..I was asked to leave, while they prepared her for the coroner..so I went into a rest room and weeped for her..I knew that she did not know the Lord..I asked the Lord to bring Hilda back from the dead..I was in there for approx. 30 minutes, when I heard another nurse calling for me to come and say good-bye to Hilda..
When I went out to say good-bye..Hilda was sitting up in the corona's cot..she said Hi Eileen..Praise the Lord..my heart jumped for joy..Glory.. :)
The following day I went to the hospital to visit her in ICU..the nurse said I was not allowed in to see her (only immediate family were allowed)..I said I was a minister of the Gospel..they asked for documents..I said did Jesus, Paul, Peter etc. carry any documents with them..
At that time, Hilda's doctor was coming out of ICU..He asked what all the comotion was about..the nurse told him I came to see Hilda, but I was not her relative..I said I want to be her sister in Christ..the doctor said..it seems to me that she is her relative..she is her sister.. :)
I led Hilda to the Lord that very day..Praise the Lord..she went home to meet the Lord 3 days later..
Merry Christmas..To All..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

That's God's decision. Through our lives, we do see God, he knows what he is doing, rest assured.
