Ryan White was a grade-school student who was expelled from school when he was dignosed with HIV. As you can imagine, there were huge court battles over it. The medical community was just beginning to learn how the virus is spread. Fortunately, his family won the law suit against the school district. The legislature then enacted a law to allow kids with HIV to attend school.
