Could it be that the fuel filter picked some trash from the bottom of the tank, or could the pump itself be dying? Any ideas!!

Did you get the same type/brand of gas you always get? If not that could be a problem for you...

It's the fuel pump. The fuel filter is part of the fuel pressure regulator which is sold as the fuel pump module. The fuel pump module is included in the fuel pump. I'd recommend buying the fuel pump and replacing it. Thoroughly clean the tank while your in there. What happened was that the fuel filter just about had enough of the contaminants or the fuel pump overheated and became weak. The fuel pumps are also cooled by the fuel in the tank. P.S. other symptoms may also include for hard starting, hesitation, surging and stalling. Hope this helps.

Sounds more like bad gas (possibly water in the gas). Try getting some dry-gas...STP stuff..could also be a clogged injector.
Just so you know...your fuel pump ALWAYS pulls gas from the bottom of the tank..think about if the pump pulled from the top....how would you eventually get all the gas from the bottom??

can be a number of things. first of are we dealing with a gas 5.9, or a diesel 5.9. in which case wrong fuel will be your biggest suspect,or poor fuel. is it cold where you are now,you may have moisture in your tank, and if you do youll need the dry gas to get rid of the water.you may also have some gunk in your tank, though that really shouldnt be a prob, i have a 95 dakota thats been down to a half gallon of gas in it,before i filled up,and had no problems.another thing to check, would be your fuel filter,if its clogging itd cut fuel flow to your engine.

Depends on where you live. If you are in a cold weather state, condensation forms in the tank. That condensation is then pumped into your fuel system. Use dry gas and don't let the tank get below half in the winter.

Could be water in the gas. Try adding some fuel dry.

maybe your fuel filter or fuel pump running newer fuel injected cars low on gas can cause dry sprays with your injector also

could also be bad gas or wrong type

Your thought of picking up sentiment at the bottom is right on.
Never let your tank get below 1/4 tank.

Could be, but before doing anything empty that tank and fill up again with premium gas. Maybe you got some bad gas (ex. with water in it).
