Call or have someone call your local Chamber of Commerce in your city to find organizations to help you.
Almost anywhere in the U.S. there are organizations and colleges that teach ESL (English as a second language) and have adult reading classes. Most times these classes are low-cost or you can get scholarships to help pay for them. Some are even free. They meet regularly.
A child takes many many MANY years to read and write english in a structured classroom. Don't get frustrated when you still struggle with words. Start small. And don't be ashamed. Be proud that you are trying to do something you want to do!
