It was an unexpected pregnancy and after 12 hours of labor she needed to have a c-section. Assuming she is extremely exhausted, the day after, she is still panting and breathing heavy. Is this normal?

I would call the vet, I can't recall any of my girls ever doing this, even the one who had a c-section. In a case like this, you are always better safe than sorry.

It's not too warm for her, is it?

It is normal for the mother to run a low fever (hence the panting)during the two days after giving birth. I become concerned if the fever is over 102.8, if the dog is drinking excessive water or if she is depressed. These may all be signs of a retained placenta (or puppy) or a uterine infection.

Normal mother dogs are bright, alert and attentive to their puppies. She should have a ravenous appetite as she converts metabolites to milk. I become concerned if the mother shows any signs of listlessness or depression. She also needs to visit a veterinarian if she is not attentive to her puppies.

Be alert and pay attention to the new mom.

sometime before the canines supplies delivery and seventy 2 hours later on the present the canines and her doggies must be taken to the vet any way. Ask the vet about it. The canines would have afterbirth it is inflicting an infection or perchance did not delivery all of her doggies. Or she would only be warm. you want to get her and the doggies to the vet both way so ask the vet. desire each thing works out ok.

You dont have to waste money on a vet visit, pick up the phone and call him its free.
My dog never did this then again they were all normal deliveries, a friends dog did that but had a puppy still stuck in her that had died. I am sure the vet wouldn't have left one in there though, your female would still be cramping though to help shrink her uterus.

To be on the safe side I would call the vet. She may have a temperature that is causing her to pant. If there is a fever there could be an infection. Best of luck.

She might be in pain - your vet would be the one to ask this question. You need to call and tell him what 's going on.
