This question is mainly for African American men. I had an African American man tell me that "B*****" is a term of endearment (over the weekend). I say women should not be labeled that term unless their actions merit such a label. The guy feels that just because his boys use it when women aren't around, it's OK to use it when they are around (even around his girlfriend). I think it's disrespectful and should not be a label for all women. He feels it's only not OK to use the word when refering to his mother or girlfriend/lady. What do you think?

I don't believe the B word or the N word are ever cool to use in front of anybody. There is nothing endearing about either word. I also don't believe anything can be done to desrve that label.

I think you are right about it being disrepectful. He is sending you a double standard. It's ok to call women a b........but not his mother of girlfriend. He can't have it both ways.....that is a double standard. I say get rid of him; who knows what other bad ideas he has about women. I know you asked mostly african american men but this is a repect issue. Why waste your time on a man that has negitative ideas about women? There are plenty of men out there that don't have to call woman names!

My boyfriend uses the word all the time jokingly. Personally, I find it VERY offensive and it shouldn't be used at all.
