I have been diagnosed and my doctor tells me I need to prepare for hemodialysis and I really feel like I dont need it and I know if I dont do something about it,it can lead to death. I feel that going to get hemo 3times a wk for 3-4hrs is just too much for me. Its a treatment I have to face for the rest of my life until I can get a transplant which can take years! I feel fine right now but feel like I want to get a 2nd opinion from another doctor. I'm currently watching what I eat and taking my meds. I just recently started taking this matural herb remedy to see if it works and was thinking of purchasing those pills in the internet that were scientifically made by doctors. Do those work? Hmmm...I'm skeptical. What do you think world? Any suggestions? Any doctors out there that can give me some advice? Anyone?

hi!
I am 22, the doctors told me my kidneys were failing when i was 20, and i was in the same stage that you are in now. i waited a year before i started dialysis. there is a great book that i found at barnes and noble called how to avoid dialysis or something to that effect... it is a yellow and blue book, im sorry i dont remember the title, but go over there or check on there website and you will find it. it is written by a dr from johns hopkins that switched over to holistic medicine. The book lists things you can do like, regulating blood pressure, and which vitamins are okay to take...BE WARY of any medication or herbs that you take , because since your kidneys are not functioning at 100%, these things may build up in your body, not like a healthy person, and harm you more than you are now. 1st step would definitely try and find a donor NOW and start the process BEFORE YOUR KIDNEYS FAIL. it is a long process, but much shorter if you have someone that will donate a kidney to you, dont forget your options, beside hemodialysis there is peritoneal dialysis also. i tried both forms and have been on hemodialysis for a year now. some people prefer the other type . ASK if you need help! i know what you are going through. keep your head up!

Not even 4 weeks ago, my husbands dad was told the same thing by his doctors. He decided not to take their advice and just try to eat right and take his meds. November 9, 2006 we got a call, he died in his sleep from cardiac arrest due to kidney failure. Please, do as your doctor suggests. Get well soon.

for a while that you are working on your kidney donor, be on a regular dialysis sessions so that all the body wastes will not be deposited to your tissues. i know that that relatives are the best kidney donors, they are usually 80% tissue typed. you should also avoid some infections because it can complicate your situation.
