Its a constant ache... not really painful as such. It started last night. Its on the pointy tooth at the front, it doesn't seem to get any worse with hot or cold. What could it be?!

Check if any food has become lodged in the gum this can cause pain that feels like its coming from the tooth! Is there a filling in the tooth?
You can also have knocked the tooth eating on something hard which can have a bruise like effect this is normally combined with sensitivity and lasts maybe a week or so.
In the mean time take a painkiller and if your symptoms haven't resolved by themselves its best to see a dentist! Good luck x

Pointy tooth at the front?? Don't you know the names teeth? Either way, do see a dentist to get it checked. I recently had a very bad tooth ache that I suffered with for over a week but finally went to the dentist and found that a piece of filling had embedded itself in a nerve. The pain was excruciating and the tooth had to be removed. What a relief that was.
You may not be in much pain now, but if it suddenly gets much worse you'll be sorry you ignored it.

My husband was petrified of dentist`s ! had tooth ache for over 10 year`s he got used to the pain after a while ! it stemmed from having a tooth out when he was younger , but it took 4 different dentist`s to eventually pull the tooth out , then it got badly infected , but 2 years ago he finally faced his fears and went to a new dentist , they sorted his 10 year tooth ache out in 5 minutes seems he had a small hole in his tooth , now he will not miss an appointment , he can`t understand what all the fuss was about and he realises that not all dentist`s are butcher`s like the one he had when he was younger , Face your fears now before it get`s as bad as my husband`s was ! Taking pain killer`s to ease the pain is not good for you ! my husband took 8 pain killer`s every day for 10 years !!!!!!!!!

it could be a small cavity starting or a minor infection starting; either way, try to see a dentist before the weekend; my tooth started hurting last Thursday; by Saturday I was chasing the dentist on his cell phone for pain meds and on Sunday for an antibiotic; after 2 dentists, I'm having the work completed today; I could have been out of pain days ago if I had gotten help when it first started; don't wait with the weekend approaching; I truly feel for you; good luck!

Perhaps you have a small hole in the tooth? See a dentist as soon as possible, but until then buy a bottle of Clove Oil from your local chemist (I think they keep it behind the counter) and put some on the tooth. It stinks and tastes horrible, but it'll numb the pain until you get an appointment.

Take some ibuprofen - this kills pain and also helps reduce any swelling there might be round a bad tooth. If there is a problem the swelling could make things worse.

Go to the dentist!

If your tooth hurts it could be a lot of things. None of them are good things. It is probably nothing serious BUT it could be and even if it is not it could become serious.
Go to a dentist if the pain has not stopped by the end of today.

Hi, you say it not really painful? Do you feel as though you want to push the tooth into the gum? If so it could be a gum disease where they become loose. If it is the tooth itself then you could either have an abscess under it, which means that you have to visit your dentist to get a course of anti-biotics. Or just a hole or even sensitive teeth, see the dentist.........

Good luck

Get a small mirror to look into your tooth. It might have a whole in it. If it does, you need to get that filled so that it doesn't cause more pain later.
Ouch!!
