He is about 10 weeks old and still weening. I came home from work last night and picked him up to pet him. I smelled something bad so I looked at his bum and noticed he had an accident. He has long fuzzy hair so some poo was stuck in it and I didn't think anything of it because he is a baby. I got a wet, warm washcloth and started gently wiping it off-which he didn't like of course. I was tempted to give him a bath but didn't want him to be cold afterward. When I got to taking a closer look, it looked like the poo was stuck in his bum still. Well, I eventually got most of it but when I took a look at his bum afterward it looked very red and very big-almost like the inner part of his bum was coming out. I didn't see any blood in his feces so I am hoping it was just sore. I am planning on taking him to the vet if it continues but what could be causing this? He is the runt of the litter and very tiny for his age. I am hoping there is nothing wrong with him.

your kitten's bottom is just sore from having the poop stuck to the sensitive skin for a long period of time....it will get better in a few days :) I once used a very tiny bit of diaper rash cream to ease my kitten, not a great idea if they lick it off though....hope this helps :)

Long-haired cats get feces stuck a lot in their hair - that is fairly normal. But if part of the little guy's innards are coming out, as you said, then you may have a serious problem. Get the baby to the vet ASAP.

could just be that he is still little and can't poop himself and when you wiped his little bum it was sore. even if you did it gently it still could have hurt him
he may just be sensitive
my boyfriends cat bleeds from his bum sometimes because it gets chapped
could just be nothing
i'd call the vet and descibe symptoms
but don't panic until you know its probably nothing!!!
good luck

He really sounds like he has a prolapsed rectum. I would take him to the vet as this can be signs of many many issues and can be serious.

Good luck!

ok,what you have to do first is kaking your kitten to the vet, he will tell you what to do. If you don't like this option i suggest yhat you bath him once per day.
