I have a very strong suspicion that it has a lot to do with cronyism and war profiteering.

Hmmmm... are you extreme?!... We destroyed the government of Iraq and with the help of worldwide regulation we won't be able to go away till there's a central authority in place to guard the individuals... the actual undertaking is.. that many of the individuals interior the rustic are of one faith that would not understand the rights of something of the individuals and visa versa... so it quite is demanding to establish a democratic government... because of this, that's going to take us approximately 2 generations to change the approach of the individuals there with the intention to nicely known that individuals of all faiths have specific rights, not in uncomplicated terms those of the governing faith... 2 generations.. or approximately 40 years of toiling interior the desolate tract... If congress cuts the investment and forces our troops out then the government will fall down and a few form of vicious dictatorship will take over and there will be chaos for a time.. many harmless lives misplaced.. many ability struggles.. and perchance the faiths with the less numbers would be eradicated... so, specific.. this may well be political suicide for people who vote for it.

I don't understand how some people can be so miss-informed as with this so called war always hearing one thing and blowing it so out of proportion. If you want the real facts you can find them you have the best tool you have ever had right at your finger tips. Heres one fact that may be of interest. We lost more troops in one day and I must repeat this one day in Vietnam than in the collective years of this war. There was a period when we were losing as many as 10,000 men daily. Congress is full of cowards afraid of not being re-elected if they don't follow the senseless polls. And Bush knows that he won't be re-elected so he will stand his ground. ( Bush isn't the chicken she-it everyone claimed him to be ).If we quit now we are sending an open invitation for any country to come over here and kill as they wish. That we will forgive them then rebuild there country. History will repeat itself if we don't draw on our past mistakes.

Because Vietnam showed America a tough lesson. Get the job done.
We may have jumped the gun by going but that can not be un done. Only thing we need to worry about is making the mess right. Put yourself in the good people of Iraq and place the war here in USA...would you not want help from the Iraqi's after they outted Bush?

It may have been a mistake in hindsight to invade Iraq in the first place, but now that US is in Iraq, pulling out without getting the Iraqi government the time and preparedness to assume control of their own security will be a disaster for Iraq, the region and the world including the US. Terrorists would have won, and become emboldened to strike US soil. If Bush has been too hasty to invade Iraq, he is doing the right thing to stay the course.

Because it isn't the right time to bring them home.
They ought to be appropriating the funds so that we can support our troops they way they deserve to be supported and bring this war to a victorious end, instead of dragging our soldiers back here with their tails between their legs.
(And that's a metaphor, so don't even start.)

Because Bush is president and in charge of this country's foreign policy, and he knows how stupid and wrong it would be to up and leave.
There are significant and worldwide repercussions if we abruptly run away as the lefties propose. It would result in much harm to many people and would leave the world significantly more dangerous.
The parochial myopia (God, how I love that phrase!) of the anti-war anti-Bush zealots, who only see political power in the US, and only think in terms of Western leftist paradigms, blinds them to the our noble effort and the human costs of failure.
How sad it must be to have such a limited world view.

Realize that this isn't a dictatorship. If Bush had as much power as you think he has, it wouldn't be a democracy. He is not the only one in our government who believes we shouldn't leave Iraq yet.
Also, let us not forget: he is serving his second term, we(most americans) put him there!
