My family has been here in the United states (Texas) for over a hundred years My Father served in the Army during WWII and I served in the US Navy and yet sometimes here in the area I live I get dirty looks and discriminated against just because I look Mexican or I guess am of a tan color. I guess Im screwed because of the color of my skin. This hurts us deeply The tan people who were here since way before the Alamo.

No one can tell just be looking at someone if they are illegal. Any one who assumes is just ignorant. You don't have to justify yourself either. It's the other person's problem not yours.

My family has been in Texas and Northern Mexico for Centuries, My ancestors fought in the Texas Regime in the civil war. They fought for the south. I've never had that kind of expression from any person, I have a dark complexion and I am Mexican. I'm a Citizen of the US and I don't know why they treat you like that. People are different and just because you have been discriminated doesn't mean that the South is all racist. I know all of my history and trust me, there are alot of haters out there that spoil the real meaning of being Southern.

You are right. My husband who is perfectly legal in the UK (he is Albanian) has to put up with the same prejudice on a regular basis. I think there is absolutely no excuse for such behaviour from people. You can not possibly determine who is legal and who isn't just be looking at someone, that is absurd. I don't think it's just skin color. My maiden name is Rodriguez (my family on my father's side is from Spain - they immigrated here legally when my great grandfather was young) and after we moved to the South(ish) when I was 16, I got a lot of racial slurs and things like that. It's stupid. Yes, illegal immigration is a problem, but we can't all eye everybody like they aren't supposed to be here because they have a different ethnic background.

No one can tell who is here illegally just by looking at them but they make assumptions. I'm not saying the assumptions are correct, but since there are so many illegal aliens coming from the south, a lot of people assume that if you are Mexican, you are illegal.
Or maybe the people giving you dirty looks just don't like Mexicans at all.

Of course not! Could you identify any other type of criminal just by looking at them? Americans are really confused about the whole illegal immigration issue. I wish people would stick to the real issue, and not change it into something else. It's not about ethnic backgrounds. It's about criminal behavior.

I am Mexican -American. I have brown skin. I have been discriminated all my life. I retired at the age of 52. Yet, I have to say in no way am I suffering as much as an illegal alien nor do I have to go thru what an illegal alien has been thru.
Most Americans have not had to go thru the same suffering as an illegal alien. They are treated like shi t by white Mexicans in Mexico and they are treated like shi t by white US citizens.

Go to any fast food joint around lunch time you'll be able to tell...there isn't a word of English spoken among them... even the VERY young girls have many, many anchor babies that are no more than a year apart! What American that works for a living, and wants prosperity for their children, could possibly afford to have a baby every 9 or 10 months?
Repeal the 14th amendment - write to congress about this atrocity!

Based on what you said, you don't deserve that treatment. But understand people's frustration at real illegals spilling into the US and many then getting into crime, violence and anti-US rallies and even anti-white "gringo" activities.
When people accuse you, just tell them what you said here. It should make them feel ashamed.

You can tell though, and it's not just me saying this. I have Mexican American friends who say the same. They are short and dark and the are usually into wearing cowboy hats
