Some files have the extension .SI - others have no extensions at all - but the file names are just a series of numbers.

Is there ANY WAY I can open these files to see the images? Do they need to be re-encoded or something?

Any help would be appreciated...

I also got that disk after my MRI's and in order for me to look at them I had to download some software.
There should be a web site listed on the disk, go to that site and download the appropriate software to be able to read that disk.
Trust me, it's worth the extra trouble, the inside of the human body looks really cool in 3D!

Was there some kind of image reader on the disk that you have to install? Is there a company name on the disk, so you could go to that company's website and find out what you need to read it?

You can usually go to an image file on disc, right click it, choose Open With, and pick Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. If that doesn't open it, you need to check with the maker of the disk to see what program you need to run it. I would guess it was given to you with the pictures, probably on the same disk, if you need one.

It should be self extricating (if it is zipped) and have the program to see the films on the disc as well. When you insert the cd, go to "my computer" then look for the drive with the cd, hit "open" (not autoplay) and look at the files. The programing should be there with the pic files. It may ask you to install, go ahead and do it if you want to see the pictures. I will warn you though, unless you are familiar with MRI films, you will have no clue as to what you are looking at.

Windows should be able to search for the right stuff that you need to view the file. It'll be in a pop-up asking to search for it. If not you can call them and ask what you need to view the file.

Your doctor or the medical outfit that did the MRI should have hard copies of the results that they can give to you. I know my doctor(s) always have so.
