Slots give casinos a large House Advantage – which means that they get to keep a lot more of your money. However you can apply some techniques to improve your odds. One point is checking what are the payback percentages for each game. Progressive slots have lower paybacks than on-progressive machines.

Another point is being stricter about your money management. Don’t feed all your winnings back into the slots machine. Also check which casinos and which games have larger percentage paybacks. Consult this page:

The best way to play slots is to practice your technique. Some people just push the button. BIG MISTAKE. You need to pull the lever very gently (this takes practice to get the right pressure). Nudge the edge of the machine with your knee like you're playing footsies with your girl. Then, when the wheels start to spin, you need to stick your shirt sleeve in the dollar slot. Only when you have mastered these essential skills can you be a good slots player. You probably just don't have the stones to cut it in high stakes slots. Sorry.

The best way I know of playing the slots is spend only what you have to lose. I also do this, I take say $20 which I put in the machine and say I get 2000 credits (penny slots). I then keep a tally of what I win, when the credit counter matches the tally in my head, I cash out. I come out ahead 75% of the time.

Playing the slots is a game that is 100% chance and no skill. Therefore there is no 'smarter' way to play.

I've heard that some slots in high traffic or entry areas have been programmed to be "loose". If you go to the same casino, I would suggest keeping an eye on which slots seem to pay off more often and try them...

There's nothing smart about playing slots. You can, however, increase your odds of winning by playing max lines.

Always quit when you are ahead instead of trying to win more.
