Most Christians are Roman Catholics, and that is not a part of Roman Catholic theology.

Are you asking a question because you want an answer or are you just trying to pick a fight?
But, in answer to your question, if there's a part of the Bible you don't understand, you should look up other passages which deal with similar issues. Paul himself spoke of his fears of becoming a "castaway." He was not speaking of loosing his salvation; rather of becoming unfit for God's service. I know the verse you're talking about: it is where Revelation is discussing different churches and their spiritual states. Some believe these churches are "ages," the book of Revelation has a lot of metaphors and symbolism which we may not understand now. But, if you're taking the verse at face value, it simply means God will be angry. Notice it was talking about a group in general, not an individual's salvation. God said he would never leave us nor forsake us, no matter what we do. As for God being angry and punishing Christians, well, that's a whole separate issue.

The meaning in that Verse is that God wants you to pick a side; you can not be both good and evil and still get into heaven. It is far worse to say you are a christian and commit acts of evil than it is to be evil. That is what God is saying there, and as far as just accepting the lord Jesus as you savior to gain access to heaven, that is all you have to do. Because accepting Jesus isn't just a word you spout just before death to get to heaven, it is a change in you and your life style. That is often why taking Jesus in your heart often accompanies baptism,(a washing of your soul to remove all of the old sins). Believing that I am saved by believing in Jesus is the only way to get to heaven, but it is our duty as Christians to live as close to the ways Jesus lived so that might keep our souls with out sin, and therefor get into heaven. But just asking for forgiveness is not enough you must believe that you are saved and that the only way to be saved is through Jesus.

I don't know which Christians that you have talked to, but salvation is a way of life. The bible says to pick up your cross daily. To walk out your salvation with fear and trembling.
A lukewarm Christian is like a bowl of cold chicken soup. It is there, unappealing and not much good to anyone but the most starving.
While, the question you are asking about is once saved, or salvation lost, which is highly debatable, I believe this verse is telling you to walk in righteousness, with passion.

Actually that verse is directed for the christians ONLY. For believers. For those who've accepted Jesus. And what that means is you're either on fire for God, or not. You can't be on the fence. You either have to chose if your going to FULLY live for him, or for the world. When he says, "because you are lukewarm, and neither hot or cold I will vomit you out of my mouth.." he's saying, that he'd rather have you be a christian who wants nothing more, than just him. And that you have a passion, hunger, and deep love for him. Or he'd rather have you not even chose him at all. He doesn't want lukewarm christianity. You either chose to follow and live for him FULLY, or chose to live for the world fully. It's our choice. See people think that by doing good "deeds." and accepting Christ is how we'll get to heaven. Its not like that at all. Its not how MANY great things we do here on earth that will bring us to heaven, it's accepting Christ, repenting, asking for forgivness, and trying to live our lives as God intended us to live. Following the commands he sent forth. (The ten commandaments.) and living completely for God. I grew up in a born-again pentecostal home for as long as I can remeber. But I didn't accept Christ until I was 14! Sure I stumbled along the way quite a few times, but that's part of learning from my mistakes, and growing more in Christ. Now I'm a 17 year old girl who wants nothing mroe than God. There's this song sung by a guy named Aaron Schust, and there's a part that goes like this, "This world has nothing for me, I follow you, This world has nothing for me." And it's sooo true. But hey, I can keep on telling my testimony, and saying how great and wonderful God really is, but none of what I'm saying will make you want to accept Christ, because of my testimony. To some yes, but not all. God gave each and everyone of us free will. We can chose to accept Christ, or not. Its your choice. Make the right choice before it's too late. Tomorrows not promised, the next second, the next minute, the next hour, next week isn't promised to ANY of us. So we should chose the right choice. The Clock is ticking!!! God Bless.

Actually, a great many Christians -- especially those of us of the Roman Catholic persuasion, though there are others -- don't believe this.
We don't believe that a one-time acceptance of Jesus is sufficient for getting into heaven -- though it is an important starting point.
In Romans, Paul clearly tells us that our acceptance of Jesus, and our living in His good grace, is and must be an ongoing, lifelong process. He tells us that we must continue in God's grace, or else we too shall be pruned away.
There are other verses in the Bible which touch on this theme -- that it is entirely possible for a "saved" person to become "unsaved" by unhappy acts or by an abandonment of faith.

The problem with the bible is semantics. What it means all depends on the person reading it. Not to mention, its not the words of Jesus Christ. That scroll wasn't found until the 1940's. If you are going purely by Jesus, then you have to accept him and try to live a good life to its fullest. Accepting we are not perfect and we will falter. Jesus is always with us. You don't need a building of brick and stone. Look inside yourself and I will be there. That was Jesus. Not what the Bible tells you he was. The bible was written by man.

True statement, unfortunately.
But for the sake of any that may desire the truth that should read this:
In the salvation of man's soul there are 2 necessary parts: God's part and man's part. God's part is the big part, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift if God; not of works, that no man should glory" (Ephesians 2:8-9). The love which God felt for man led him to send Christ into the world to redeem man. The life and teaching of Jesus, the sacrifice on the cross, and the proclaiming of the gospel to men constitute God's part in salvation.
Though God's part is the big part, man's part is also necessary if man is to reach heaven. Man must comply with the conditions of pardon which the Lord has announced. Man's part can clearly set forth in the following steps:
HEAR THE GOSPEL. "How shall they call on him whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Romans 10:14).
BELIEVE. "And without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing unto him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that seek after him" (Hebrews 11:6).
REPENT of past sins. "The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked; but now he commandeth men that they should all everywhere repent" (Acts 17:30).
CONFESS Jesus as Lord. "Behold here is water; What doth hinder me to be baptized ? And Philip said, if thou believeth with all thy heart thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God" (Acts 8:36-37).
BE BAPTIZED for the remission of sins. "And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38).
LIVE A CHRISTIAN LIFE. "Ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9).
Do this, and HE will add you to HIS church. This is what they did in the first century, and this is what we MUST do to become a christian. Hope this blesses you and anyone that may believe.
Peace

Acceptance is just the beginning in the Christian life. One must be holy to get into heaven.
