How do i change the username of my windowsXP or my computer system... what i'm trying to do is there's a "name" on my windows XP...and i dont want "just in case" unsolicited ppl hack thru the network and see my name..how and where can i change it? thanks.

lucee : may i ask you where d'u changed your name in ? and did it crashed windows afterwards?

When you installed Windows XP and registered it, it gave your computer a unique name. That name never appears anywhere but in Microsoft records so that when you download updates, Microsoft knows that it's going to your computer. I tried changing mine, and really screwed things up.

Goto Control Panel -> User Accounts

Select the user that u need to rename... and go ahead.. if u have only Admin, then create a new user...

Thats it dude...

Pick the account that you wanna change.

try going to control panel>system>computer name - then click change to rename your computer

reinstall windows pack1 or 2 and change your option.good luck!
