I've been going to the gym for 8 months but am seeing very little change in my weight. My fitness level has greatly improved, every six weeks I change my workout and make it slightly harder to do. I've got muscle forming on most parts of my body but I can't seems to shift the flab around my abs or upper thighs. I do alot of crunches on the gym ball and use the leg press. But it's not making much difference. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. I eat very healthy too, lots of fresh veg and fruit etc, nothing sugary (cakes, chocs, sweets etc) or dairy. Since I've started I've only lost a stone...I know it can take a long time, but it feels like its taking too long. Someone I know went to weightwatchers and has lost four stone in the same time, without doing much exercise. I would join but it's expensive and I have gym membership to pay for.
Please help........

did you know that muscle weighs considerably more than fat does, If I work out a lot I always put on weight thats because my muscles are getting bigger.
You have probably lost lots of fat, trust me you are doing this the right way.
if you went to weight watchers like your friend you would be left with a saggy body no fat no muscle that is not what you want.
Keep tonning and turning those fat cells to muscle I bet you are
looking really good, keep it up, and dont concentrate too much on how much you actually weigh, People dont believe me when I tell them I am 9 stone, they say i only look around 7 or 8 but this is because I have a lot of muscle not just skin and bone.
Tell your friend that she needs to tone not just loose weight or she will have lots of excess skin not pretty at all.
Good luck and keep it up x
plus the more exercise you do the higher your matabolism will go so eventually you will be able to eat morexx

It sounds like you're already doing the hard part.
But it still sounds like your metabolism is a bit sluggish.
Caffeine will accelerate calorie your burn rate most over the counter weight loss products contain caffeine as the active ingredient. Even though in the past caffeine has gotten a bad rap recently several health benefits of caffeine have been found.
Eating chiles actually helps you to burn calories, and shed pounds. Research conducted at Oxford Polytechnic Institute shows that eating chiles increases thermogenesis, the body’s caloric burn rate. If you eat chiles or chile sauce with a meal, your body will burn calories at an increased rate of about 25%. This translates into maybe 45 calories more burned per 700 calorie meal. So splash the hot sauce onto your food, and burn the fat.
Also by drink more cold water you force your body to heat the water to match your body temperature burning more calories.
Also since the belly is the first place men put the weight on it's the last place to leave when you're losing.
So keep up the good work!

How much you lose is dependent on how much you had to begin with. Was your friend who lost four stone the same weight as you? Be sure to get enough calories (between 1200-1500). It may sound strange, but if you eat to little your body will go into famine-mode and try to conserve as much energy as possible. Also you should try to eat five times a day (not big heavy meals, obviously). Using a tape measure instead of scales to see how much you've lost can sometimes be helpful. Remember that muscles weigh more than fat. And keep up the good work. Good luck!

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

Many patients ask me how they can slim down. I am against prescription pills because I prescribed them many years ago, and some of my patients became very ill.
I now recommend that people eat right and exercise. However, if they would like a little "help", I now recommend Hoodia (it's important to note that not all Hoodia works well, even if the bottle says "pure" or "standard".
The Hoodia being sold at http://www.alllsite.info/free-diet-pills.php is in my opinion, the best product on the market. It's pure, no side effects, and it's only $4.97 for 2 weeks (yes, less than $5 !). My patients have seen dramatic results with this particular Hoodia.

Hi, i know the feeling, I use to excercise like you and no weight was shifting at all. I did this for 2 years and barely lost half a stone so i gave up and went to weight watcher and i was amaised in the first week with sicking to the points system i losr 1 and a half 1b which is more than i used to loose in a week of excerciseing for an hour everyday.
Yes excercise is important but its also about protion in take, even if you are eating healthy.
Whilst i was on weight watcher i never excercised and the weight was dropping off and i could eat what i wanted. I did a little experiment i thought to myself, im on weight watchers looing weight so if i excercise for 1 hour every day i will loose more weight, but to my discust i hadnt lost anything at the weigh in. So i dont know what goes on. If you want to loose weight in the fatty areas of your body you will ave to diet first before it will tone up. This maybe why you aint seeing results in certain areas.
Weight watchers is worth it and works, also you will be super healthy if you do your excercise to.

Lean muscle weighs more than fat. It could be that you are replacing the weight that "was" fat with lean muscle. As far as your middle, try changing the way you do the crunches. Instead of using the gym ball, do them on an angled bench with your head facing downhill. These are harder and you should get some good results. Try to cut out some of the protein, like red meat and fatty pork. Also start keeping a diary of your body dominions, biceps, chest, waist, thighs, calves, etc. This way you can see if what I said about muscle-v-fat replacement is what is going on. Good luck.

Wow you are doing so well, I envy you. Keep going your weight has probably plateued now. Do you have a nutritionist at the gym that could give dietary advice. I don't think you need weight watchers. Do you need to increase your carbs?

Muscle weighs more than fat, so although you are slimming down by exercising you won't lose weight unless you lower the amount of exercise you are doing, then you'll see the scales drop.
