Actually, the Bible makes no commandments about gambling. It's a matter of Christian freedom and is governed by basic stewardship. If a Christian makes their wages, gives to God, gives to the poor, supports their family, pays their taxes, etc., and has money left over for entertainment, then if they want to go spend some on gambling, that is allowable done responsibly and in moderation. To better understand the Bible, go online and read the Kretzmann Commentaries on the New and Old Testaments (starting with the new). They are good basic primers. Also, read Martin Luther's large and small catechisms with explanations.

What is probably my absolute favorite quote on God, from the book Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett:

"God does not play dice with the universe: He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players [i.e. everybody], to being involved in an obscure and complex variant of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time."

Job was self rightous and needed to be taken down a peg or two. In the world today we see ministers made self righteous by the book.
I occassionally pick up a scratch ticket so I can throw it in the garbage a minute later. More chance to be struck by lightening than win.
