It's different for everyone, and she's going to have to try many things before she finds the "right" one. Panic attacks are horrible and terrifying; I suffer from them myself and my heart goes out to her.

First, what meds is she on? It may be time to up them. She needs to see her doctor. Getting into some therapy would be very beneficial right now, too, as they can discuss ways of coping through an attack with her.

Next, when an attack is on, she needs to try different things - sometimes *nothing* works my mind is in such a terrible place! I have found calming teas (with lavender, chamomile, etc in them), a quiet room, and doing mantras on my mala beads (like a rosary) very comforting. I also burn some lavender incense and light many candles, as they soothe me. All of this is after years and years of trying different things. It's unique for everyone. Does this make them stop? No; but it helps me get through them when I'm suffering an attack.

Best of luck to her. Don't waste $600 on anything. She just needs some more meds, a therapist and to learn her own, positive and comforting coping methods. Best of luck to you both.

Panic attacks are in actuallity a breathing problem have her breath into a bag to regain control it works at least 50% of the time if this dosn,t help see a councelor panic attacks can be helped with some short term treatment reasurance is a good thing to do since most victims of this disorder will tell you they feel as if they are dying or choking to death have your friend look for things in her life that are causing an undue amount of stress this is often the root cause of panic attacks

I suffer from panic attacks and my meds only cost 7.00..... xanax. She should watch her diet. Lots of sugars and caffienes encourage panic attacks. Also, knowing how to handle them once they come on can make all the difference. I find that getting to a restroom and taking many deep breaths takes care of them pretty quickly without any meds. Meds should always be a last resort.

If she is not taking the right med's, then that is a problem. A single Xanax .50 mg a day should do the trick.

Exercise will purge out a lot of stress and anxiety. I took martial arts off and on for a while, did wonders for me.

treating mental conditions is an individual thing. it really depends on the person and how their systems respond to each treatment. what works for one person may or may not work for another.

i have panic attacks and severe anxiety that never goes away and nothing works for me. i do not have the money for a proper psychiatric exam so i just have to... endure. i am medicated and have been on different combinations of medication for the past 3 years.

i do hope you can find something to help her, though.

Is she seeking counseling from a therapist? The problem with mental illnesses is a lot of people don't seek help from a therapist and rely on just the medication alone. Drugs only suppress the problem. It is very important to seek therapy to try to learn how to cope with everyday problems. Without the therapy, the drugs can be useless. Especially to those who try to live without the drugs. I would highly suggest she seek therapy if she isn't already.

besides meds, what helps is also being healthy,,, making sure to eat correctly, (watch out for sodium and fats in foods) exercise even if mild,,,,,,,,interaction with others,,, having a hobby or interest (crafts, reading books etc) ,general things you can do to get healthy physically and mentally,,,, the body/mind connection cant be overstated!,,, this will put the person in the optimum shape for the meds to work,,,, also,,,,, sometimes you have to try different meds, to find the right one,,,,,, i suggest reading up concerning the particular meds your friend is on,,,, and others available, so it can be discussed with her doctor.

I've had panic attacks. What was the event that caused her panic attacks. The more she talks about it the better she will be. People have the self ability to become better.

My daughter had panic attacks. Her grandmother died and I moved to another city 100 miles away. She was getting a divorce and I guess the world became too much for her.

They put her on all the horrible medicines which made her feel like a zombie. Finally, she ended up on Paxil and now she doesn't need to take anything.

First pray a simple prayer "Father, in Jesus' name, please send the Holy Spirit to comfort me and take the anxiety out of my life.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen"

Now, if there is any sin in your life the Holy Spirit will start bringing it to your attention so it can be removed. At every thought of a panic attack coming on - start speaking the name Jesus out loud.
If people only knew the power in that name, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Son of the Living God. At the sound of that name demons tremble.

I am assuming that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior. If you have not, then pray this prayer, "Father God, I believe you sent your Son Jesus Christ to die for my sins on a Cross and He was buried and raised from the dead and now sits at Your right hand. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."

The Bible simply states to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. Jesus specifically said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except by Me."
There is no other way to eternal life with Jesus in heaven.

Now, read the word of God in the Bible. Keep Jesus on your mind instead of negative thinking. The Lord is positive thinking with the only hope for a future. If you need to scream the name Jesus - do it. There is nothing wrong with asking, "Lord have mercy on me." What I'm teaching you has nothing to do with religion. It is a personal relationship between you and Christ. Read the Bible, because Christ expects us to know His word. Jesus and the Father God are One.

You will eventually get to a point where you are so confident in Jesus and eternal life with Christ that you have no fear of dieing. This is the peace that surpasses all understanding.
