becuase talk of religion leads to many arguments; sparks resentments; and some claims of some religious groups make people very uncomfortable.... so, "polite society" avoid any talk of religion. Personally, I'd talk about religion anywhere anytime if given the chance... but I'm the rare bird... most people abhor talk of religion

People fear disapproval, it takes a few years or experiences to acquire the confidence in Gods Love and POWER before we are strong enough to stand up for truth. Even if it means disapproval, we speak up once we know what we are saying is the TRUTH.

God does not lie~

I think everyone here is talking quite freely about religion. If you mean in your personal life, it's to avoid a social situation that turns as ugly as this board can be.

I'm assuming your question is deeper than how its phrased.

No one seriously talks about religion as they are afraid to offend someone...like we're all Canadian and polite and all or something.

Due to there being the fringe fanatics in every religion...yes, even Christians who are armed to the teeth and hunkered down in mountain side bunkers in Colorado...any offense caused could create much more serious issues than our political leaders truly want to deal with.

As such, religious debate is frowned on as a topic unless...like here...one can hide their face and name behind a computer keyboard.

religion and politics are difficult subjects, that mostly lead to confrontation, that's why people tend not to talk about it. Internet is the best place to talk about these things.
