snowflake shaped cookies.
or 2 snowman cookies that are holding hands.
or double heart shaped cookies
you can make them yourself and get your young family members involved. I did that for the kids attending our wedding. they will cherish your last few days of freedom. buy them some pizza too. edible favors are usually cheaper. or do what i did and make wedding cd's and put your engagement picture on them and download a few of your favorite songs .
cheap 100 pack of cd's $12
100 cd labels $15
12 songs ( if you dont already own them) $12
ink cartridge $40
100 paper cd sleeves $10
good luck

Go out right after this Christmas and but some ornaments. They will be on sale so that shouldn't cost you to much. Then go to a craft store and buy a craft paint pen that you can use to write your names and wedding date on the ornament with. You can also get ribbon to tie on the top instead of putting in a hook. This way your guests will always have a momento of your wedding on their tree. Not many people can say they got a beautiful Christmas ornament from a wedding.

Rather than giving a great Dinner party you can give a Dance party, with some drinks , snaks and cake. It would not be so god, but it would be unique because ppl don't organize such parties for their wedding celebration.
But your wife may get angry.
You can organize party in a garden with only a few close frnd, that would not be expensive.
Organize a party in ROCKS , that will be cool and cheap and unique also !!
If ideas are not good -- then plz forgive me considering lack of experience.

I had a fall wedding and was looking for the same thing. I finally found a bunch of cookie cutters in fall shapes like leaves, acorns, etc. I bought a bulk amount of ribbon (maybe 3/4in wide). I wrapped the cookie cutters with the ribbon, as in wrapped the ribbon through the middle and over the outside over and over so you could no longer see the metal. I then made our names, the wedding date, and a cute little saying, printed it repeatedly on cardstock, cut it out in little rectangles with fancy scissors and tied it to the cookie cutters with a narrow ribbon. You could do the same with your wedding colors and winter shapes, such as snowflakes.
My ribbon was wire edged so it stayed in place on it's own, but you could surely hot-glue the end down on regular ribbon.
I'll send you a pic if you're interested.

You can buy a box of cholotates from Russell Stover. They have the four piece chocolate boxes for a little over a dollar, They are wrapped already and they are pretty.
It will be fancy without all the expense. Again, they are about a dollar a piece.
Good luckl

It's not that unique, but I had planned to use crystal/glass frames. Rather than wrapping them, we planned to put the place cards in them, just to do something a lil different. A family friend ended up giving us crystal vases to use, so we went with that instead. They were gorgeous...and free lol.
