Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

What are you eating or drinking before you go to bed? I found that anything with sugar or caffeine in it kept me awake or woke me way to early. Since I stopped drinking caffeine 4 hours before bedtime I sleep much better now. Look on line for foods that will help you sleep. It's helped me alot, even when I was newly separated and divorced. Stress can keep you awake for hours, so does sugar and caffeine. I hope this helps. Good luck!

how much caffeine are you getting during the day? cut down.
are you stressed? make a list of your obligations and priorities, talk to someone.
the lavender is a nice idea. how about listening to calming music?
or reading a book?
if this insomnia persists you should probably go to a doctor before self medicating...determine the cause...

Try lavender oil on your pillow, or in an oil burner in your room (don't leave burning candles unattended!), try valerian, drinking hot milk or camomile tea, don't try and force yourself to sleep - if you aren't falling asleep, get up, read a book or something. If it continues, I would suggest going to see your doctor, to rule out any underlying problems.

Antihistamines might help you sleep. Maybe you worry too much.
Don't think about problems hours before you go to bed.
