If Jew's what their own homeland - so be it. What's the problem and why are people like David Duke and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad against this? I thought they don't like Jew's living in America.

People across the world are opposed to Zionism for as many reasons as there are people. It may be helpful to know that there are more than one type of Zionist. Modern Zionism began in Europe in the late 1800s by Jews wanting a homeland for their people. The obvious choice was the land called Palestine, a piece of the Turkish Empire. These original Zionists were mostly not religious. They were intellectuals and in some cases communists which is why they started communal farms called kibbutzim. After World War 1, when the Turks were defeated, (1918) the British victors controlled the land of Palestine and attempted to deal with the growing tension between Arabs and Jews in the Holy Land. There were efforts to create a state for Jews alongside a state for Arabs. After World War 2 and the Holocaust in Europe, the United Nations was created (by Harry Truman in the USA) and one of their first orders of business was voting to approve the creation of the State of Israel (1948).

There was an immediate war set upon the tiny nation by surrounding Arab neighbors, which the Arabs lost and Israel prevailed. Israel has endured many wars and uprisings down to this day and next year, 2008 will mark 60 years of nationhood.

Now WHY are people against Zionism? Depends on who you ask. To be simplistic, Arab Muslims regard the existence of a Jewish state on what was formerly Islamic Territory to be absolutely unacceptable ever. I mean forever. Muslims, Arab or otherwise will NEVER cease from struggling against the Zionist state in that land since they regard the land to be sacred 'Waqf' land or designated Islamic lands. So, to be honest, any peace agreements they might make with Israel are (from the Muslim perspective) temporary, because deep down, Arab/Iranian Muslims can never accept a Jewish state on this sacred Waqf land. Period. This is a key point you will never hear in the press or from the US State Department, but it is solid truth.

As for the David Duke sort of person, there is a belief in a global, political, financial domination by Jews, that they control everything in the world ... the media, all big business, governements, the US government, etc. He thinks the world would be a better place if Israel were gone and Jews were out of positions of power, influence and wealth. He also believes that the Jews are behind the Iraq war and probably most wars involving the USA and Europe in the past 100 years. Go to his website and read his own words for yourself.

Finally, I personally believe that if Israel's neighbors were to simply accept them and cease from fighting, all of the violence would end. I know this will not be easily accepted, but I do believe that the Israelis would rather not fight anyone ever again and would prefer a cooperative regional experience with all of the surrounding countries that includes free trade, cooperation and prosperity for all. It is unlikely this will be the case. The fact is, the Jewish scriptures are entirely about this little strip of land with Jerusalem as their capital. The whole of the Hebrew scriptures are centered on the land of Israel and Zion (Jerusalem). If the whole earth hates them for it, perhaps the problem lies with hatred for God and His intentions for the Jews and the Land. Perhaps those who have a problem with Zion really have a problem with the God of the Bible.

Most people have no clue what Zionism is in comparison to Semitism, so most people don't understand the difference between anti-Zionism and antisemitism. "I am for Zionism, but I can do that without agreeing with everything Israelis do or say." Which sort of explicates my point. Zionism does not exist without the existence of a Jewish state. So to disagree with what is done, in the eyes of Zionists in Israel, as continuing the Jewish state is at least a questioning of Zionism as a concept.

Because people are ignorant about the jewish history.

They established that land long ago and were conqured, tortured and killed and eventually forced to leave.

The jews regrouped and took back their land through military and political actions.

The greedy Iranians and Syrians (whose forefathers conqured them) want the land back and will stop at nothing to get it back including supporting a terrorist group that puts military hardware in civilian areas so when the Jews attack they hit civilian targets too.

Its all part of the ploy to make them look bad and have the world turn against them because the Syrians and Iranians are too weak to take the land back themselves.

Because Jews only want one piece of land on the entire planet, the holy land. After WWII, they were offered many areas to make a state of their own. They were offered lands in Africa, Antartican and Greenland, but they refused, saying they'd only accept Israel as their own. That land was controlled by Britain, but that land was surrounded by arabs, who hate Jews as bad as the nazis did. When Britain gave their land to the Jews, the surrounding arab nations went crazy and declared war.

Zionism is the belief that jews were given land by their "god" and they had a right to seek out that land and take it from its inhabitants as a means of "reclaiming" what god gave them. Kinda like what the Spainards did to the american natives in 1492.

What's wrong with that? Well, let's say all people did that? What did "god" grant Africans? Hmm, maybe the entire South East. Asians? The entire midwest. Native Americans? Prehaps the great tree god granted them your neighborhood.

I mean, come on. First, you have to even believe in "god" to go for this type of thinking. Second, you have to believe in the Jewish god, for it to matter. Third, you have to believe that what people believe that their 'gods' tell them should apply to ALL man kind, no matter who is in the way. "Hey, god told me to kill all first born children, so I did." Fourth, there is no way to verify rather people are really "hearing god" or just doing what they want for their own purposes with the delusion that god told them to do it. Since it's impossible to verify rather a REAL GOD is REALLY talking to people, the rest of us have to choose to believe what others are saying about what 'god' said. This is a very scary and stupid thing to do. As you can see, people die as a result.

David Duke is a lowlife dropcase, who cares? Mahmoud is a politician who cares? THey fear what they do not understand.
For all of you brain surgeons on cool wannabees:
Isreali jets and little children, how myopic. What about Arab bombs on school buses? I quess that is okay.
Send them to the moon? You could probably not launch a bottle rocket.
