This may be her nice way of saying that you're getting way into her space and that it bothers her. Sometimes girls can be uncomfortable with lots of attention and affection from a guy for a number of reasons; ie, she may be lacking in self-confidence, or she has trust issues, etc. It's hard to give a good answer without knowing more details, like how old you two are, how long you've known each other, how you spend time together, etc., but here's what I think: Never change something about yourself unless you're doing it for yourself first. It's admirable that you're willing to do this for her, but the fact remains that she should like you for who you are, not who she wants you to be. Unfortunately, it's possible that she's unhappy in the relationship and is looking for an easy way out, for whatever reasons. Like I said above, a lot of times girls (and people in general, but I think it happens more with women) don't react well to lots of praise and attention because they may not feel as if they deserve it, and they project negative feelings/thoughts onto the person making them uncomfortable. Try talking to her about why she thinks you're too lovey-dovey, and it may help you both understand the situation more fully. By the way, it's not necessarily a bad thing. She may just not be that demonstrative a person and wants to even the playing field between the two of you in the least difficult way for herself. Talking to her is a good thing. Remaining true to who you are is also good. Keep both in mind, and good luck!

I don't change my behavior toward my husband around xmas. ...Especially not for gifts! My husband would give me something if I said I truly wanted it, but I very rarely ask for anything. He gives me more than enough, so at Christmas I usually tell him I want something small, nothing at all, or a day trip together.
