I'm thinking about converting to Islam because I think Christianity is fabricated and full of Pagan rituals. There's no Mosque where I am...so I do I convert? There are only Christian churches where I live. If I tell my pastor I think he will give me a long lecture, so I don't want to tell him.

I think Islam is nice, the people are beautiful and kind. So are Christians, I don't hate Christianity...I was just born in a Christian family. Now that I am an adult I want to change into Islam. I'm from USA. I wonder what my name would be when I convert. Do you know any names for a girl that could be mine?

I just want to find God. I don't feel Him in a Pagan based religion.

I think Christianity was pure before the Romans filled it with Pagan filth.

One thing, okay it may not be Pagan but tell me this...Why did the Christians change the Sabbath Day. In the commandments that God gave us it says that we should observe the Holy day, yet Christians changed it to Sunday.

Well, get ready to lose your foreskin.
And learn to bend and touch your forehead to the ground raising your posterior to the sky while doing their prayer.
Oh, I say, did I hear you say you don't like pagan rituals?
What do you think Islam is full of?
Well, it's your Life!?
Oh, by the way also be ready for an explosive vest. They need more cannon fodder like you.

I'm very happy for you and sorry that you will have to endure many obstacles; just remember you are doing this for God and NO one else. I agree with you that Christianity and Judaism at one point were the right religions, but through fabrication God had to reveal his last and true religion; that He would protect. First off, I think it is very important that you get a Quran and pamphlets on Islam; sometimes it is difficult to understand the verses without historical context. About the conversion; Islam will bring much content and spiritual serenity in your life; unfortunately people won't take well to conversion. You need to be sure that you are ready to make this decision; for your and God's sake. To become Muslim all you have to do is say "I testify that there is no God but God and Muhamad is His messenger." Technically you don't have to have a witness but it is strongly recommended that you find 2 Muslim witnesses to verify your conversion and I'm sure a guided tour to the nearest Mosque would be an enriching experience. You might feel a little nervous but just try your best to fit in and ask help if you need it; other people will be anxious to help you. Your name; a lot of converts find it necessary to have a "Muslim" name but if your current name is not a pagan name (i.e. Minerva or Christina??) then you can keep it. If it makes you happy you can choose a secondary Muslim name too, like Sarah, Amina, Amira, Khadija, Safiya etc. Lastly (sorry this is long) I recommend you read the following websites for some guidance/info. I really love reading them. May Allah bestow His mercy on you. Good luck on your journey to the truth and I urge you to independently research sources to come to a true understanding of Islam. I know this may seem like a lot to digest, but don't burden yourself; take it slowly and insha'Allah (God willing) you will be guided. Salam (peace).

I am not religious but that you began to have questions of your religion, to me is an outstanding thing. Congratulations on having the inner strength to actually question something that may or may have not been forced upon you.
unfortunately if you enjoy the freedom to think for yourself and the ability to question things that may or may not make any sense to you, then islam is not for you.
why do I say this? just google the terms: ali sina challenge
Ali Sina used to consider himself a muslim but non of his muslim leaders would ever answer his deeper questions on the religion, he finally felt he had no choice but to move on.
The fact that he converted to christianity makes no difference to me, I am just glad that he with his vast knowledge of the religion of islam has done most of the leg work in putting together his challenge so that I don't have to go through the trouble of debunking this religion myself.
When the most intelligent scholars of islam prove Ali Sina wrong then I will convert to islam... by the way that will be when pigs grow wings and fly!

You should tell your pastor. He may give you a long lecture, but you should get the facts before you leave the Church. Christianity is not full of pagan rituals and pagan rituals are not full of Christianity. People from many different religions and faiths share similar practices. Are you reading the Bible? When I read it I found out how much God is against pagan rituals such as idol worship. As a Christian I celebrate many Christian holidays around pagan holidays, but that does not mean that Christians use pagan rituals. Can you name one pagan ritual that Christians use? Even if you could name 100 or 1000 it doesn't matter. It's not the motion, but the faith behind the motion that matters.

i reverted to Islam 2 years ago. For me i said my shahada at home with the Imam of the local mosque. If you are thinking of becomeing a muslim i suggest you read the quran and look at genuine sites on the internet or islamic chat rooms if there are no muslims where you live. Once you have a fuller knowledge of Islam and are sure it is for you. Its very simple just to say your shahada with a true heart and thats it you are a muslim and no one can tell you, your not. You dont need your pastors permission to change your faith and really the only persons business it is, is yours and Gods. Maybe if you find out where the closest mosque is to you, give them a call and tell them your difficulty in no mosque being close to where you live. Maybe the Imam can listen to your shahada on the phone. Although simply for you to declare it to Allah with a true heart is enough. I suggest you read lots and try and find some muslim sisters to talk to online and near where you live. Insha Allah i hope you follow the true path sister and find the wholeness that i have found. Dont listen to all these negitive people with there silly, predjudice and hate filled answers. Of course think wisely, think carefully before making up your mind, but as a muslim ( white, blue eyes, scottish muslim) i was not raised in a war torn country, i have freedome of choice both before and after becomeing a muslim, i am not dictated to by my husband, i am free to persue my career, i never killed, bombed or terrorised anybody, i have the full respect and protection of my muslim brothers, i have never rode a camel and i am fully educated. My point is dont listen to the stereotype simply they are that stereotypes the only thing for me as a westerner that has changed is I practise the 5 pillars of Islam, eat halal food and praise God like he wants to be praised. I'm still the same person, still loved and love my family even though none of them are muslims, still work, still raise my children, still have all the freedoms i had before the only thing different is now i am on the true path. Get yourself all the knowledge you need make an informed choice and good luck with your decision.....Allahu Akabar peace.....

To become a Muslim you only need say three proclamations in Arabic and then follow Islams five pillars for the rest of your life. Once a Muslim, you are a muslim for life. Muhammad's Allah allows no further conversion as they say.
But start by reading the Qu'ran to make sure it is what you want. It is, without question, a Religion of Great Beauty!
Very free from pagan symbols, just not pagan cultural practices. The veils, poligamy, death sentanceing, aputation for crimes all stem from the Arab culture as it predates Muhammad.
Most muslims of the world no longer practice any of these things anyway.
There are also small iconoclast christian movements. Look around.
Add:
names: I don't know the policy on changing names.
But Khadjah was Muhammad's first wife (and significantly older) she was also one of the first, if not the first, convert.
Aisha was another one of his wives, also a strong woman.
Fatimah was his only surviving child.
Mariam is the Muslim name for Mary, Mother of Jesus. She is well respected in most of Islam
Sabbath: Christians orginally celebrated the Sabbath with all other Jews. Then they would meet additional on Sunday, the day of the Resurrection. Eventually, just like nowadays, it was to much work and they sought to further separate themselves from the Jews. It's just a day after all. But that isn't a pagan influence. Unlike all the iconography, which IS!!! The Sacrements all have Pagan influence, not to mention the whole RELIC/SAINT thing with Catholics.

Alhamdullillah! God is great! Would like to share with you the universal dimension of the Quranic message, whose three essential messages are :
1. The Quran is a message of guidance to humanity.
2. The prophet hood of Prophet Muhammad is a mercy to humanity.
3. The Quran demands Muslims to respect all religions and human civilisations.
"O Humanity! Lo! We have created you male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another. Lo! the noblest of you, in the sight of Allah is the best in conduct. Lo! Allah is Knower, Aware." (Al Hujurat 49:13).

You just have to understand and testify
There is no other Gods worthy of worship but God(Allah) and Muhammad is His Servant and Messanger.
La ilaha illallah Muhammadur Rasulullah
If you testify this you have already declered the Shahada. There is not need for any witness or no need to go to the mosque.
But decleraing the Shahada in front of your believer friends will birng you more joy believe me.
This testify is enough for you to call yourself a believer.
But after you become a Muslim there are 5 duties you have to perform:
1) Shahada: There is no Gods worthy of worship but God and Muhammad is His Servant and Messanger.
2) Salah: Worship five times a day on their priscribed times
3) Sawm: Fasting in the month of Ramadan
4) Zakah: Charity/Alms (There are rules defined)
5) Hajj: Pilgrimage to Mecca (if you are capable)

Alhamdulillah. so glad that Allah has shown u the light.
i suggest u go find a mosque and talk to the imam. never mind those irreverent individuals above me. so disrespectful. they ought to be ashamed.
u know u Christians should have the decency to be more respectful of other religions, in particular, Islam. never had i heard a Muslim be such an insolent in this site as to openly mock another religion as such by u Christians. im not stereotyping, there are some of u who dont and some Muslims who do. but id say most Christians DO.
And ive came across many denial statements too which appeared false and provoking. saying Islam promotes hostility teaches hatred. that Muslims are all terrorist and their sole purpose of living is to annihilate all other beings which differs faith to them.
the reality is that Islam is a religion of peace. Islam itself means peace. and as Muslims were also being blessed by god the prophet who shows us the path. the path of practicing Islam in daily live. the path of greatnest in here and hereafter. so i tell u that ur doing the right thing here. one which comes along ever so rare. may Allah bless u.

Welcome to Islam!
May Allah help you and guide you!
To become a Muslim you must accept with the heart and declare with the tongue the Shahaadah : There is no God, but Allah and Muhammed (mercy and peace of Allah be upon him) is Allah's Prophet and Messenger.
You need to take a complete bath to purify yourself.
Remember that Allah understands ALL languages - so you can pray to him in whatever language you speak. You can learn the Qu'raan and how to pray, etc slowly over time.
If you are sincere, please do not let anyone talk you out of it!
Also, please be careful which websites you log onto for info as some websites are designed to mislead and misinform.
May Allah envelope you in His light!
Some good Muslim names are: Fathima, Mariam, Ayesha, Zainab, Khadija, Sumayya, Husna, Asma, Tasneem and Ruqayya.
