Internet dating is not for freaks and geeks anymore. The use of the Internet is so wide spread that people are probably staying in more because they don't have to get out to socialize as much.....hence a wider variety of people turning to the Internet dating.

NO! Definitely not - it's just a another avenue to meet someone. These days people are so busy with work and stuff that they haven't got time to meet someone in the conventional way. There will obviously be some people with low self esteem using it, but definitely not all. And using internet dating sites hasn't got the stigma that it used to have. In fact I hear people often suggesting to single people why don't they try internet dating. It's the year 2006! It's called modern technology.

I dont think so. I know that I have no self esteem or self confidence issues and that I have been told that I am downright cocky even. I used the internet to find someone with whom I might have things in common, get to know them better etc... and not waste alot of my time. Time is a precious thing and something that I dont have alot of. I was able to find my wife whom I have been married to for over 5 years now. During those 5 years I was stationed in Germany for 1 1/2 years (Alone) and then deployed for another 1 1/2 years. We have finally spent our first year together this past year. ( I was in the Military and retired last year.)

No,not nescessarily.More likely bullshit predatory opportunists or con artists poseing as somenoe else.Obviously people You`ve described would feel more confident via internet, and it`s easier.Under Your nose all the time.I wouldn`t feel comfortable getting chatted up in real life and to take it further.I`d rather get to know more about a lot of suitors than just go out and get attached to someone and end up blind. You can always meet them.Takes perseverance though, alot of it.

Its a tricky ques no doubt ...the ans is both yes and no,75% yes 25% no
practically depends on the person....a person having suffered a lot in his life wud be afraid to take on the spot decisions.
But internet dating does help u come to know about the other person so much u can be as free as u want to ,on both sides, just relaxes and prepares u to take anything ... besides i wud i like to know a person completely before i do nething so which may take 2 yrs .. may be but prepare for the best ...

Excellent question! How could one possibly "measure" esteem/confidence levels over the internet?

I would say yes. All a bunch on losers.
only kidding. it could be a great way for people with restrictive lives to meet more people. Like single mums or people caring for sick family members. If u meet up as a result of it, that takes some guts i would think.
I dont know though, as i havent dont it... I have a real Girlfriend, arf arf.

It could be, but it could also be people who work alot and don't have time for actual dating. Many people work 40+ hours a week and internet dating fits their schedule.
