Do other things that don't involve the chat room, then ask permission to go on line with her standing there.

First, understand that your mother is reacting to the dangerous situations that can be found in chat rooms. Yes, you can often just visit with someone, but it is amazing the amount of information that you can give out without meaning to. My guess is, even if she believed that you did it on accident, she would feel you were not mature enough to have a computer, (you have to go through quite a few steps to get into a chat room, it does not just happen) and if you went in on purpose after she told you not to, than you should not be trusted. You are going to have to work extra hard to earn her trust back. She is doing her job and being a responsible parent and one day, you will understand how rare that is and what a wonderful mother she is.

The fact that you are in here, tells me that she might have a point..

How can you make her trust you? tell her to install a spy log on your computer, so that she will be able to review what you are doing, but you will still have the freedom of doing your homework or your research...

I think your mom is right in restricting your access to a computer (of course, that is valid depending on your age... if you are 30 yrs old, I'd tell you to get your own computer and house).

it will take time,,, chat rooms are not good places for anyone!! i found out my daughter was in one and on myspace, and she has been banned from the computer for 6 months,,,, maybe your mom will consider letting you on the computer if you had parent spyware equipment so she can see the sites you go to,,,,, if you have a computer in the bedroom,, you shouldnt!!! no kid needs a computer in their bedroom,, computers should be in a central part of the house where us parents can see what is going on at all times,,,, parents have a hard enough time worrying about their kids, and chat rooms make it worse,,, show your parents respect, love, and maturity in how you handle this,,,, dont make it worse by complaining, whining, or being a brat to them,,,,, just wait til you have kids and then you will see why us parents do what we do to keep our kids safe!!!! good luck,,,,,,,

in a chatroom? You must have the most strictest of mom's. Tell her it was a Christian room and you were just talking to them about things and life.. Nothing big.
