Is there anyone who is Polish that gets offended when someone calls you a Polock. And is it true that only the Polish people will get the true meaning to a Polock joke?

I am half Polish..my mother's side. I get offended by all kinds of derogatory ethnic references including the word Polock. There was a large number of "polish" jokes in the past but only the truly ignorant continue with that type of thing. During the time when the Polish jokes were rampant, I had friend from Eastern Europe. She said they didn't make fun of Polish people in Europe.
Of course, the Polish people were an oppressed group in Europe by both Nazi's and Russians. They had many people who have made great advances in the world as well. And, something I am just finding out, the highest number of Ashkenazi Jews in Europe originate from Poland. During the many decades of extreme prejudice/racism that went on , large number of them converted to Christian and especially the Catholic faith. So many of us are actually Jewish. Did you know that?
I found out about this while studying Biochemistry in medical school. There are several enzyme deficiencies listed which Ashkenazim Jews have and it appeared I had one of them, luckily it was a benign one. I then researched this.
Thanks for bringing this up. Let us be proud of our rich heritage!
Happy Holidays to you

I don't get offended because no one calls me that. The so-called 'Polish jokes' are a) too inane to have any true meaning and b) can be applied to any nationality or minority.
