I am at present working on a science fair project and as part of the project I have to use a transistor as a voltage amplifier. So can anyone tell me how to make a voltage amplifier, or just give me some URL's that relate to this subject. And don't just tell me "go and buy one" I have to make it myself.

There are two types of transistor PNP and NPN, which refere to the stacking of the two types of silicon used.

I recommend using a common general purpose NPN transistor (2N2222). Look at the data sheet in the application/ testing section and there is a schematic for an amp.

You can use just about any transistor for you experiment. 2n2222 is pretty common and you may find them at Radio Shack.

Digi key is also a good online source for parts and information

Mark G has got it spot on Mark...

You don't have to solder anything either you can build this circuit using a breadboard....

Good luck with your circuit...
