For the US tourist visa application, what proof of US citizenship must the host provide?

I have already searched the Embassy and related sites for answers to my questions, but either did not find specific, detailed enough answers or do not remember exactly where I saw the answers and can´t find them again.

There is no such requirement. Plenty of people get US tourist visas who don't know anyone in the US, but are going for shopping or to visit amusement parks. There is no need for an invitation or a host.
