I would say just being nice. I open the door for men and women. I get strange looks from the men, but they say thanks and seem to like it.

I would think of it as a polite gesture but then again I am a true southern woman and I guess you could say I expect it. More men should open the doors. I think women get so wrapped up in their careers and own lives they don't give too many men the opportunity to be gallant.

A polite gesture, any woman who thought you were a sexist pig is way too into herself.

Generally when a man opens a door for me I think of it as a polite gesture, not an act of chauvinism.

I wouldn`t think of it as sexist as it would be a welcoming gesture.I can`t remember any occassion when a male has bothered,so it would be especially nice;and I don`t see it either as being like the woman think`s She`s a queen.Did She ask Him to open the door ?! It is also like the man`s in control,so can be a turn on.

I think it is a polite gesture. I cant see how anyone can see it as being sexist unless they like being treated like dirt. If u do that all the time then u will have respect from many women and the ones that hate it will never be happy anyway. Keep it up x

Wow, I think that would be one serious feminist that would call you a sexist pig for holding a door open!

If you opened a door for me, I can promise that I wouldn't be thinking.., 'Does he think he can open it better than I can?' or 'Does he think I wouldn't be able to do it for myself?'

Seriously, when those kind of gestures are done for me, I see it as having manners and nothing to do with sexes. I would hold a door for a man.

I hate those ignorant ****** that don't acknowledge you when you do these little nice things for strangerd!!!!

I would think you were polite and you were brought up with manners, and I would say 'thank you' ,but it wouldn't matter if you were male or female. I have held doors open for men and they usually look a little hesitant and not sure what to do, so do they think I'm some kind of feminist, or just being polite? I am just being polite.

I think it would be a polite guesture.
Like if you opened a door for an old lady you woudln't be ageist, you would be polite.
Or if you opened a door for someone in a wheelchair you wouldn't be discriminating, you would be polite.
Or if you opened a door for another bloke you wouldn't be gay you would be polite.

Manners dont cost a penny and can really make a difference to someones day.

I would believe that it was a polite gesture as only a few years ago it was a common thing for people to hold doors open for people & for men to open doors for women. I think that it is lovely that some men still do this as it is very gentlemanly
