placebo's should only be given out during a test, and the people, while not knowing they received the placebo, would know they were in a test/study. you could ask a pharmacist about the pill you were given, the only sure way to know is to have a chemist test it,,,, keep in mind, that some placebos have gotten into the pill supply, even at major pharmacys, so while not likely, its possible the dr prescribed a real med and a placebo got switched in,,,,,some of the fake pills are even hard for a pharmacist to tell,,,
so i would ask a pharmisist and discuss it with your doctor,,

If you feel the medicine is not working for you, then let your doctor know. It may be that the doseage is not right, or you need to try a different medication.
As the other posters mentioned, a doctor cannot prescribe a placebo unless you have consented to a blind study.

I dont know where you can look it up but look up the name of the pill online. compare the pill to what the website says the pill should look like
i doubt your doc gave you a plaqcebo. he charged you right? that would be lying. i dont think pharmacist would go along with it.

Not unless you have signed a written consent to participate in a blind controlled drug study.
