Perhaps too much iron, dairy, or not enough fruits and vegetables. Sometimes juices help too. You might want to look at the milk she is drinking if you switched it. My daughter eats cheese, but soy milk is the only thing she drinks alot without making her constipated.

This is a common problem.. even when they get older. Too much cheese and dairy will do that. Replace one serving of milk with juice and limit the cheese. Make sure to give lots of water and NO soda. It will be fixed in a day or two. Children cannot digest dairy till they are as old as 6! Make sure that they have veggies and fiber too. Good Luck!

My daughter went through that phase at that age too. You just have to keep telling him NO over and over and like the other poster said and showing him that you have to clean up. For now, I would sit next to him when eats and try to remove plate before he finishes each meal and say "all done" and moat importantly, praise him before he gets to that the point of throwing it. Have some sort of routine. Make sure his high chair is next to the table and when you remove the bowl or palte on the table and say "all done" then wipe his face and hands and praise him with "Good job, all clean" Eventually he'll get the hang of it and change the negative behavior from your positive reinforcement of the good behavior. You can reward him with a cheerio or cracker he likes. Even though I am a believer in time outs (2 minutes for age 2.) I don't think it will necessarily work in this situation. I don't think smacking him will teach him anything except to smack his food and bowls even more. Be persistent and patient. he's just learning and testing boundaries.

My 2yr. old son just got over the same kind of problem. I was allowing him too much dairy and not enough juice and water. Once I changed that he has been better. Good luck I hope this works for you. You can always call the doctors office if youre worried.

She could be getting too much iron in her diet, which can cause hard stools. She could also not be getting enough water. Water helps bowel movements and lubricates the intestines. You could also give her prunes or plums, which serve as stool softeners. Good luck!

its a form of constipation. My daughter has a similar problem, but she only goes 2x weekly. Pediatrician has her take 1tsp of mineral oil a day. I usually mix it into scrambled eggs. Give it a try....if anything it will give him/her a bit more comfort.

My daughter did the same thing. She wasn't getting enough fruit and drinking too much milk and not enough water. Fruit cups, fruit cups, and more fruit cups.

Give her more water, this will help it come out easier, and not be so hard.
