I think God creates the hen and the hen lay the egg. That is why the hen comes first.

Hi, as per Darwin's theory, everything started this way: Unicellular to multicellular. Hence only the egg should have come first. That egg broke and something came out and grew; that we started calling a hen. This then mated with a rooster and started producing further eggs.

Well there are many sources. According to bible and religion generally the hen came first as all the animals and birds were crated by god. However science generally does not agree with religion (what a surprise!!!) and it states that the eggs should have come earlier. So as u see it all depends on what you believe.

I believe its the hen because some animal may have mutated over hundreds of years to form the hen which then lay the egg and so on and so forth.
