Because raisins and grapes are toxic to dogs. It tends to show up as acute renal failure. However, unlike with chocolate, they have not identified the compound in grapes and raisins that are so toxic to dogs, so the safety threshold is unknown.

I had heard that too but asked my friend...an animal expert, but more wildlife... and she said it was nonsense, and veg and fruit are all good for animals.
But I know onions are toxic for dogs so I guess grapes could be too.
I have given my dogs grapes before and they have been fine so i really don't know :S

Because grapes & raisins can cause kidney failure in dogs. No one is quite sure why.

Because it's like giving exlax to your kids. You give your dog that, and whatever the pup's eaten in the past two days will be spread joyfully around the house.

it has not been figured out why it happens but dogs that have ingested grapes get very ill and then can suffer from acute renal (kidney ) failure.
