Mac OS is probably the best gui OS available. Apple's website has everything you want to know about the current version (OS X Tiger) at http://www.apple.com/macosx/tiger/. The next version (OS X Leopard) should be out in Spring of 2007. You can get a sneak peek at http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/.
If you are a Windows user and are investigating an alternative you should give Mac a try. The latest Mac hardware works with Intel based processors and it runs Windows, so you can still run your current apps while learning the new OS - all on the same system.

Windows and Linux have two of the worst GUI's if you ask me, they need major revamping to get upto date, which is what most people are hoping that Ubuntu and Windows Vista will do. Mac by far as the best GUI of all.
As far as the myths listed about MAC and Windows GUI thats pure myth and has never been proven. Although a claim was filed it was favored in Microsofts behalf. What about mac being built on a kernal developed by ATT and Microsoft? Shall we throw in Unix and Xenix.

The best in GUI is Mac. Underneath, however, is Unix.
