It's gonna be hot in the city but it's gonna be cool in the mountain! Chaing Mai has golden pagoda on Doi Suthep, Night safari, Chaing Mai zoo, trekking, caving, and white water rafting. Chaing Rai has mountainous landscape and Hill tribes.

Weather starts warming up from Feb onward. The mountain areas will always be cool, anytime of the year.

Chiangrai is 100+ km noorth of Chiangmai. Again, weather is cool in the mountain areas of Chiangrai too. It will be hot at other times.

Spanky is quite right. By the end of March, Thailand is approaching the hottest time of year (typically April thru May). Temps are likely to reach 35C - 40C. Fortunately, in the north, the night-time temps are pleasantly cool. As for what to see and do in CM/CR, you are best advised to do an internet search, which will give you tons of good information. Alternatively, you should pick up a Thailand travel guide book at your favorite book store. I hope you enjoy your visit to Thailand.

Yup, the weather in Changmai currently is cool. And if you're travelling to the mountainous areas, you'll feel the air is even cooler. And the temperature can get to 6 - 10 degrees if you're on the mountains.
