Most of them cause pores to form in the outer membrane of the bacterial cell and they just leak away.

Interestingly, there are two basic types of antiseptic: a "bacteriostatic," which stops their growth and gives your natural immune system a chance to kill the bacteria. But a "bacteriocide" type of antiseptic will kill the bacteria by preventing the cell wall from being completed when the bacterium divides. As a result, the two dividing bacteria "leak away" and die.

Bacteria need three conditions to grow: the proper temperature, moistture, and protein. If there's no protein, bacteria won't grow, which is why they don't grow in fruit juices. There's no protein there. Mold and yeast will, but not bacteria. Bacteria won't grow in honey because there is no protein and not enough moisture. The osmotic pressure will rupture the bacteria's cell wall in pure honey.

You, however, have all three, so bacteria will flourish in you unless you have an active immune system or take an antibiotic

Antiseptics are antimicrobial substances that are applied to living tissue/skin to reduce the possibility of infection, sepsis, or putrefaction. They should generally be distinguished from antibiotics that destroy microorganisms within the body, and from disinfectants, which destroy microorganisms found on non-living objects. Some antiseptics are true germicides, capable of destroying microbes (bactericidal), whilst others are bacteriostatic and only prevent or inhibit their growth. Antibacterials are antiseptics that only act against bacteria.
