should I tell them this is very poor etiquette? On the back it says "this card can be recycled in tesco throughout January 2006" so its definitely from the same pack. I've already sent them one so I can't withhold their annual card in protest. Should I just go round there and say my piece?

Now you have done it. I happen to believe I am one of the "elderly" people who live next door to you.
Not only will we not be sending you anything resembling a card next year, but will begin a reign of terror, starting.....NOW.
Happy holidays!

I am appalled that you would even think to discuss this with them, and use the terminology "poor etiquette".
The way you wrote.."so it's definitely from the same pack" makes you sound like an investigator or a prosecutor, instead of the recipient of a well intended greeting card, from your elderly neighbours.
What it seems you are, based on this ridiculous question, is a superficial, bored, shallow minded person that doesn't know what "etiquette" is...... Let alone, empathy, kindness, compassion or the social grace to hold the spirit of the season in your heart.
I really hope this was a "joke" question. Please tell me, you weren't serious. If you were, all the best in your spiritual development. May God Bless YOU......

What?! You should just be happy that they sent you a card! It's the thought that counts! They are probably finishing off the cards that they bought last year and didn't realise. I've probably done the same, and i don't care because it's onle a piece of card, with someones good wishes on and it's going to be chucked away anyway.
As if you compared your cards to the ones you got last year anyway! Get a life!

How very shallow you are. If it bothers you so much then purchase a variety of Christmas Cards and give it to them as a gift. They probably have a standard set that they use until they are all gone. You obviously aren't high on their priority list and so they don't really care if you get the same card or not. Posh living area or not ; you need to get a life.

Why do you care? Aren't you going to throw it away in a few weeks anyway?
Maybe they're forgetful now that they're up there in years. (I'm not an old lady yet, but I'm sure I've repeated cards at one time or another...)
Maybe they don't have that many people to send cards to.
Maybe you should feel thankful that they cared enough about you to give one to you.
Maybe it's the thought that counts.
Why would you "withhold their annual card in protest"??? Obviously you're giving from the goodness of your heart. The Christmas spirit is alive and well in you.
Maybe you didn't deserve a card in the first place.

So they forgot what card they sent to whom last year. Big deal. Unless it has '& a happy 2006' on it, I don't see why anyone couldn't use cards left over from a previous year? I have many different cards from many years back, I try to remember what card I sent to whom but I can imagine some day I'll make a mistake too.

I think its sad that your focusing on the fact that the card is the same one as last year. I think you should just be thankful they sent you a card considering your negative attitude. It's the thought that counts and you don't what there financial situation is so you need to get over it.

Maybe their budget is limited, and they don't write down or remember which card that they sent you. They at least think enough of you to send a card. I am amazed that you would be such a petty person as to keep track of what cards people send you. Watch out for those damn Americans, spell it correctly and say it with respect.

Yes, by all means,...be incredibly rude and go over and hurt their feelings. Has it occurred to you that perhaps they can't afford to go out and buy cards every year, and they use the ones they have left. Hey, they apparently thought enough of you to send a card. Maybe they should reconsider next year. You would be the one displaying bad etiquette by doing what you are suggesting.

So what? Why not be thankful that they remembered you. Geeze....where's the thought of giving? Don't you ever have left over cards? What do you do with them? Save them for a couple years and send them out again. How in the world do you remember anyway? Man oh man. Get over it! Did you ever think they don't need an added expense for sending cards to a neighbor whom they see all the time? Please don't say anything to them to embarass them and instead thank them for thinking of you.
