however much I agree with most of the answers here about English stuff, I would say that it doesn't matter where it was made or produced. It's a gift representing your love to her. Unless you think that you may look more glorified when your son holds a gift genuinly made in England.
I wouldn't spend money on something which only has the name 'made in England' on it, and yet not very useful or valuable as a gift. If your boy's girl friend is an American then I would imagine she is open to products from all over the world.

Well you are giving her the best gift made in England - your son!! (ok he won't fit in the suitcase lol) So - depending on how serious the relationship is....... how about a little homemade *english* cookbook with some of the recipes that your son likes (you could do that on the computer).........Does she like music? is there something available there original by and different by Elton John or the Beatles?.......... The Royal Dalton idea was good - I have those also..........Go to one of the local shops maybe they will have some idea's for you if you don't see an idea in the answer's here - good luck.

I have an Office and a Door and a Great big Lock, and a Secretary that is very skilled at saying "she's not in right now"

The new Badly Drawn Boy CD: "Born in the UK"
A Harrod's Teddy (available online and quite reasonable)
Everything else I can think of might be either a bit big or a bit expensive.

How about a small piece of "china". Wedgwood and places like that still make wonderful gifts and such.
