Good point. The inability to prove god(s) existence opens up all possibilities, of course. The spaghetti god that is worshiped here is just as likely to be true as any other. Hmmm... I wonder if spaghetti has a gender?

The answer to "why male gods?" is undoubtedly the result of religions being created more by men than women. Anthropologists have long noted that in all human cultures with gods, the gods invariably look like the people, and very often look like the leaders. In addition to providing the leaders with political power, I suppose this would provide more comfort than a god that looked like some foreign creature... or italian entree.

Yes, it would be fairer. I think God is sort of asexual, but people may be more comfortable with male authority figures so traditionally they thought of God as male. Many traditions have worshipped the Goddess, however, so I guess it's important to keep that in mind. Maybe God represents a different concept of gender that goes beyond human comprehension.

Male and female are characteristics used in breeding. Our understanding of God, doesn't involve sexual reproduction so describing God as male, female or hermaphrodite is irrelevant.

Christians envisage God as a Trinity that includes a Father figure, a son that we know as Jesus Christ and a Spirit. Since fathers and sons are male, we tend to regard God as male. However, much of this is a hangover from early Hebrew philosophy that regarded celibate men as being the highest form of human life, breeding males as distinctly inferior and females as a necessary evil.

Patriarchal society, Church Fathers (no church mothers), female oppression and etc. It was theorised that much of humanity started out as a matriarchal system, due to their role in taking care of the young. However, as man began to emphasize on hunting, the male counterpart usurp the position from the females due to the superior strength.
When man finally came up with religion, the need to oppresse the females remained.
That is why most religions depicts the females as the cause/root to the fall of man, e.g. Eve, Pandora, Tiamat and etc.
Hence, the ruling gods are all male, like Allah/Jehovah/Jade Emperor/Osiris/Zeus/Woden, etc.

"not interested in garble from holy text just personal opinions ??"

My opinion does not matter but what does matter is what does GOD say. Jesus Christ told us to pray Our FATHER. Last time I checked...fathers were male!

Jesus is the SON of God.....the last time I checked....sons were male.

One problem is our society has successfully demonized men so we do not see GOD as being a good father. When we think of child abuse, we think of fathers doing the abusing but 2/3's of all child abuse is by the mother. Living in boyfriends and girlfriends are the next highest abusers. Fathers are much lower on the list but we would never know this from what the media puts out.

More important, is that God wants an intimate relationship with us so that we can be close enough to call GOD....DADDY! If you had this relationship, you would have no problem calling God your Father!

God(Allah) is 1.
It cannot be divided.
One is an odd number.
Odd is good.

Even's are divisibe.
All creatatures are created from scratch, scratch is zero (0).
Zero is an even number!
For example Human is divided into to, male(single, cannot and wants not produce child) and female.
In Binary system male is 1, female is 0.
0 is even.
My personal opinion is exactly as this Holy Text, so read it:
Koran Sura 112
1.Proclaim, "He is the One and only GOD.
2."The Absolute GOD.
3."Never did He beget. Nor was He begotten.
4."None equals Him."

God has to be male so that man can be made in his image, so that man is more important than woman and can rule the world in God's name. This is necessary because of course, women are the source of creatin and therefore more powerful, more important. Christian religion and most other religions are designed to dominate women because otherwise the wicker male couldn't possibly rule.

Your existence can not be proved so why assume you are male, surely Hermaphrodite would be fairer to all?

If you really wanted an answer than you have to accept the proves we have to back up our answer, since you don't accept the Holly scriptures than you already know than the Bible have all the proves for it(God existence and it says than He is a male, even Jesus say:I am the son of the "MAN")God created the man on His own image and than He created the woman out from one of Adam's ribs.

God has no gender. Only humans on the physical plane are either male or female. The soul (created in God's image) has no gender. There is no sex in soul..
