Sweden declared neutrality during World War II so it was spared from being invaded by Germany.

Sweden was neutral and maintained normal relations all through the war the other reason was that it would have been a tough and costly nut to crack as the terrain very much favors the defender. Once you took Sweden what do you have a land locked country with no good national resources. Norway was invaded because they were allied with Britain and Britain could have used Norway as a base to strangle the German fleet and have another base from which to bomb Germany. So the Germans took the initiative and invaded Norway and gained good naval bases and a heavy water factory.

Well, Sweden not only was neutral, but look at the map, Sweden is not really in a strategic location. With what Germany was trying to do, they could afford to let Sweden be and attack at a later date, never to happen as the Nazis were defeated.

Sweden was neutral (Well almost!) in ww2. But the main reason we didnt get occupied is that we have a lot mines that would be bombed if germany had occupied us. As it was the nazis could countinue to by the minerals they want the entire war and we could stay out from the terrors of the war. Its a much debatted question in sweden thou. Johan

Don't think for a moment its because they declared themselves to be neutral..The Goebbels diary tells us why Sweden and Switzerland were not to be invaded!..They were to be used as 'conduits' particularly their banks, for storing gold, money, precious art, diamonds and anything else the Nazi's could steal!..In 1976 it was shown that the Swiss banks still had over $200,000,000 in cash, art and gold belonging mainly to Jews who went through the concentration camps!..Where the Jews got it all from is still a mystery, but the Nazi's ended up with it, Deals were done in Sweden during WW2 with American corporates to supply oil, diesel engines for u boats, aluminium, and other war materials, while America was actually at war with the Nazi's!..Payment in gold bullion was made through the Swiss banks to the big American corporates!..Sweden and Switzerland were to valuable to the Nazi's to even consider invasion!

Don't forget that many of these countries were invaded before, in 1914 (Netherland (?), France, Belgium, Luxembourg), during the WW1. (sorry to tell : the invasion of Luxembourg was not a funny story, at least not for the very vast majority of the Luxembourgers.)

Sweden is full of mountains requiring a large amount of German troops (to dig out the Swiss), which were all spent instead on the Eastern Front.

The germans requested to use the swedish railroads for their troops, which the swedes let them do. That`s all interest they had in sweden.

There was no need to. Sweden would have been difficult to take and would have been of little strategic value to the Germans. It would have consumed considerable resources for little real gain.

Yea, like the Nazzis would have cared about Sweden's neutrality. You do forget that they didn't pretty much care about anything else. So...there must have been something important. Something related to money or something. All wars are built on money. Money gives power, weapons and sometimes...neutrality. That's what I think anyways...
