nobody knows when they made the first plane , but yeah the first plane that flew was made by wright brothers , it did take off actually , and that too for a couple of metres ,

Alright...some people gave a decent answer but not a full answer. Orville and Wilbur Wright did design, build, and make the first "POWERED" flight of an aircraft. Leonardo Da Vinci was really the first inventor to come up with the idea of flight and designed and built many flying machines. There is no clear hard-core evidence that he succeeded in actually flying his machines but in my belief I think he did. Back to the Wright brothers...they occomplished there first flight on December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. By using a home made 12 horse power engine the airplane covered only 120 feet in 12 seconds. It doesn't seem like much but back it was definately a turning point in history!

i think the wright brothers first designed t on the year 1899 and has a successful test on 1900 and got their patent on the year 1914 where curtisslose the court case also for a patent.
