Why should we? It's the Mexicans taking over this country, not the Germans!

I would like to learn German, and you are right German is an important language to learn.
I think a big reason not so many people here want to learn German is just the numbers. I live in Canada and the most widely spoken languages are English, French, Spanish and Chinese. So from a purely practical standpoint these languages would be more useful to a Canadian than German. I am currently struggling with French and want to get a handle on that language first before I move on to a third.
Now if I was entering a business that dealt a great great with Europe or was planing to move there, I would sign up for German classes as soon as possible.

the majority of north americans never go to germany and there is not a huge population of german speaking people in the united states. i would say that more people speak spanish and no english, yet most north americans don't learn spanish either.

Well here in America the second most spoken language is Spanish. Not many people speak and german and not many travel through Europe.I live in Texas and there's more mexicans here than any other race. Spanish is a good language to learn if you wanna be in any proffesion. there's just no use for German. we wouldnt use it

if u live on down in the south on the west coast your best bet is to learn spanish due to efficiency in comunication with the immigrants from mexico, however if you live in the north it would be more beneficial to learn french due to imigrants from Canada. Thus German does not fit in to the equation of building relations with our bording countries here in the U.S. Nevertheless it is always to ones benefit to learn as many languages as possible and to expand thier knowledge beyond thier comfort area.

German is a noble and good language. Besides there is a large population of people in the United States who are of German descent. They may be interested in their heritage.

Apart from any other reason, it's just too hard for them. An awful lot of the US Americans here seem to have trouble with such an easy language as English, even though it's their native tongue. ;-)
