I'll jump in this as well. I have a '96 Dodge 2500 extended cab, w/Cummins & auto trans., it has 150000 miles on it and never had any problems with it at all and am keeping it. I just bought a new '07, 2500 quad cab, 4x4 w/5.9L Cummins matched with an auto trans.
Cummins is a stright 6, where as Ford and Chevy are V8's.
This gives the cummins 30% less parts. They get better fuel mileage, and meet all 50 state regulations WITHOUT vapor recycling.
If you are wanting a Diesel, get it now before they all have to go to the partical screens, and all shorts of other things to meet the new emission regulations that will take affect(not sure when)
But the Dodge Cummins right now is a work horse, with a track record that proves it worth. Ford and Chevy have been playing catch up with Dodge as far as diesels go from the get go.
Oh one more thing you might find of interest is Cummins is in the process of building a brand new plant that will start producing engines in 2008 for mid size cars,SUV's. & Vans, company affiliation has not be told as of yet. The United States is going to start seeing more and more diesels, because they burn cleaner.

hands down a cummins. 350k mile interval between overhauls, twice the fuel mileage of powerstroke, and dmax, higher towing capacity than both ford an chevy. cummins is relatively unchanged since 87,whereas powerstroke has had numerous changes, which will make servicing it a NIGHTMARE if u have anything more than an oil change done.also note that changing the oil on some versions of the powerstroke is a m.p.i.a because the oil filter is on top of the engine. many military vehicles, semi's,motorcoaches (class a type), boats/vessels,and even some rains use a cummins engine.there are also no million mile club im aware of for ford diesels, but several for cummins

Well the cummins 5.9 diesel engine has been around for 10 years, but due to the new emissions laws they have to change to a 6.7 which will be available later next year. I'd go with the cummins because it hasn't had near the problems that ford has with the power stroke.

Cummins diesels are IMHO the best out there unlike the ford powerstroke which has had many, many problems since introducing the 6.0 liter version...if you are looking at new for 07 both are new versions so too early to tell.

Definitely a cummins, their motors have been around forever. I have an 06 cummins 2500, and i love it!! It is alot quieter than a ford when its running, and it has the toughest frame ever. I would rather be cummin than powerstrokin, lol.

Depending on the type of materials they are made out of, and if they are 1, 2, or 3 piece wheels. You could take them to a machine shop and have them machine the centre out, weld in a new piece of billet and drill it to suit the Ford pattern. They may possibly also fill and weld the original holes and re drill for the Ford pattern. If its a 2 piece wheel, you can unbolt the 'centre' of the wheel and replace it with a new one that will fit onto the Ford. Worse case is that they would drill in new holes in the original centre to fit onto the Ford hub. They can be used. Any good machine shop can help you out and then you will have nice wheels on an awesome truck.

Go Cummins you get better gas mileage and with two less cylinders you still get as much if not more horsepower and torque.
