If you run the program and you get a message that it needs an earlier version of Windows, your XP has a "compatibility mode".
1. Click start > all programs. Look for the program's icon in the start menu. Right click the icon > properties.
2. Display the Compatibility tab.
3. Activate the "run this program in compatibility mode for" check box.
4. Use the list below the check box to choose the older version.
5. Click OK.

it was probably made before Window XP came out. check to see if the game was made before 2000 or not. if it wasn't, then it's ok because they just didn't put XP because it wasn't out yet. or if it is after 2001, then it's recommended u don't run in on XP.
