What application are you using it for? Weddings? Training vid's? Commercials? Also, what is your budget? The GL2 is a great cam for weddings, but it will limit you a lot...and you would probably outgrow it quickly. The XL-2 is more of a broadcast, ENG (Electronic News Gathering), Documentary cam. It really depends on your budget, and what you are trying to accomplish.

No disrespect to you, or the person that answered-as the GL-2 and XL-2 are both great cam's in certain areas...but no one can give you a valid recommendation without knowing exactly what you want to do with it, and how much you want to spend.

Hope this Helps,

The XL sequence or perhaps the small GL sequence are large cameras. i might follow the MiniDv format till you have the funds for HDV or extreme information-value HD (there is not something decrease than $3300 in HD nicely well worth the field it quite is sent in). All video reward from ideal lights. a stable finding experience video relies upon on it. Doing a shoot without it quite is taking photos your popularity interior the foot. clarify to the shopper that cameras capture easy, not dark. Even inexpensive halogen paintings lights furnishings may well be utilized if creatively placed. do not take a job you may not easy wisely, in spite of the digital camera.

Canon GL2 is the best camera that is fairly cheap ($2000-2500) you can probably find a used Canon GL1 for $1500 or a used Canon XL1 for $1500. The Canon XL2 is one of the best models you can buy right now and it's $5000. What is your budget?
